CSV Import/Export in Virto
Virto Commerce includes native CSV import and export capabilities across key data domains — catalog products and descriptions, customer contacts and organizations, and pricing. These are designed for business users managing bulk data tasks, not only for technical integrations, using semicolon separated CSV files as the standard format.
For automated, ongoing data transfers between Virto and external systems like ERP, the recommended approach is API or middleware integration rather than CSV. CSV import/export is best suited to bulk one-time migrations, periodic manual updates, and scenarios where a non-technical user needs to manage data without database access.
What CSV Import/Export Covers
Catalog import/export — Products, descriptions, and catalog data can be imported and exported through the Catalog module. Imports use semicolon separated CSV files, with the first row defining the column headers. Description import is available within any category in the Catalog module.
Customer import/export — Contact and organization data can be imported and exported through the Contact module using CSV files. The module is designed for customer managers working with bulk customer data who don’t need to understand the underlying database structure. Exported files separate contacts and organizations into individual CSV files.
Price import/export — Pricing data can be imported and exported through the Price Export Import module, with CSV file mapping that allows price list data to be updated in bulk.
Note: CSV file size is limited to 1MB by default. This can be adjusted by a system administrator through an environment variable. For automated, ongoing data transfers from ERP or other operational systems, API or middleware integration is recommended over CSV.
Implementation Approach
CSV import and export is a built-in capability available through Virto’s admin interface without additional configuration. Business users with appropriate permissions can access import and export functions directly within the relevant module — Catalog, Contact, or Price.
