SAP Ariba x Virto Commerce

B2B suppliers selling to large enterprises increasingly encounter buyers who purchase exclusively through SAP Ariba. To become an approved supplier for those buyers, you need your catalog and order flows accessible from within Ariba, not through a separate login. Virto Commerce supports this through PunchOut integration partners including TradeCentric and Greenwing Technology, both of which connect to SAP Ariba’s network.

About SAP Ariba

SAP Ariba is a cloud-based procurement and source-to-pay platform used by mid-to-large enterprises to manage purchasing, sourcing, contracts, supplier relationships, and invoicing. It operates through the SAP Business Network, connecting buyers with suppliers for catalog browsing, purchase order exchange, and invoice processing.

For suppliers, being accessible through Ariba means buyers can find and purchase from them directly within the procurement system their organization already uses, without switching to a separate supplier storefront.

How Virto Integrates with SAP Ariba

Virto Commerce connects to SAP Ariba through PunchOut integration partners, specifically TradeCentric and Greenwing Technology, both of which sit as managed gateways between Virto’s commerce platform and Ariba’s network.

When a buyer initiates a PunchOut session from Ariba, the gateway authenticates them into Virto’s storefront where they browse the catalog with their negotiated pricing and approved assortment. When they finish shopping, their cart transfers back through the gateway into Ariba for approval workflow and purchase order creation. The completed purchase order then flows back to Virto for fulfillment.

The integration covers:

  • PunchOut catalog access from within SAP Ariba — buyers browse Virto’s storefront without leaving their procurement system
  • Negotiated pricing and account-specific assortments displayed accurately during PunchOut sessions
  • Cart transfer back to Ariba for approval workflows and purchase order creation
  • Purchase order receipt from Ariba into Virto for order processing
  • Optional purchase order automation and invoice exchange through the gateway partner

Note: This integration is facilitated through TradeCentric or Greenwing Technology as the gateway. Both require separate accounts alongside the Virto implementation. Speak with a solution partner for setup details.

Implementation Approach

Virto Commerce integrates with enterprise systems through a combination of APIs, middleware, and integration accelerators — designed to reduce implementation effort while preserving the flexibility that enterprise-specific workflows require.

Key considerations: which gateway partner (TradeCentric or Greenwing) fits your existing setup and requirements, whether PunchOut only or a fuller transaction automation including purchase orders and invoicing is needed, and how negotiated pricing and account-specific assortments are managed in Virto.

Use Cases

Becoming an approved supplier for enterprise Ariba buyers

Large enterprises often require suppliers to support PunchOut before adding them to their approved vendor list in Ariba. With Virto and a PunchOut gateway partner, suppliers can meet that requirement without building a custom Ariba integration.

THE RESULT

Suppliers become accessible to enterprise Ariba buyers without a bespoke integration project for each buyer organization.
